Green+1 : One step closer to greener earth
A carbon credit ecosystem that rewards you for your green actions and contribution. A system for Genuine and Trackable crabon credits
Current Situation
Today, escalating CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions are a grave concern. Governments globally pledge carbon neutrality by 2025 or even 2075. Nonetheless, the current trajectory we are following raises notable concerns regarding the feasibility and attainment of these government targets. Public and private entities aim to shrink carbon footprints, using carbon offsetting: compensating emissions in one place with reduction efforts elsewhere.
What is Carbon credit
Carbon offset refers to the practice of reducing an
organization's carbon footprint, primarily observed in
industries that emit substantial carbon, such as aviation, power
plants (coal, oil, natural gas), and cement production.
In such industries, emissions may occur in one location, but
efforts are made to compensate for them elsewhere. This
compensation can be executed by the organization itself or by
external entities like contractors, NGOs, or environmental
groups. This process is often quantified through carbon credits,
measuring the reduction in the company's carbon footprint.
For instance, a Texan coal or natural gas plant emits CO2.
Another entity plants trees in California, counterbalancing
this. This is carbon offsetting or carbon credit.
Problems of carbon credit system
Numerous organizations are engaged in facilitating carbon offset
or carbon credit programs. However, recent instances have
highlighted fraudulent activities within these initiatives.
These activities include:
1. False or Overstated Claims: Some entities
exaggerate emissions reductions or make false offset claims,
misleading those seeking genuine sustainability.
2. Double Counting:
Single offset projects can be sold as credits to multiple
buyers, inflating credits without actual emissions reduction.
3. Inadequate Verification: Insufficient
assessment and monitoring of offset projects lead to inaccurate
emissions reduction claims.
4. Inadequate Monitoring and Enforcement:
Weak oversight allows projects to deviate from reduction goals,
enabling fraudulent practices.
What we are brining to the table
Green+1 As a
marketplace, we want to emphasize that we do not function as
contractors nor do we claim to be one. Our role is to connect
you with organizations and environmental groups directly engaged
in resolving these issues. We recognize the importance of
transparency and authenticity in these processes.
To effectively address these challenges, we are introducing new
technology accompanied by rigorous verification and monitoring
measures.
1. Blockchain-Based Verification System: We
are implementing a blockchain-based system to address concerns
like double counting and verification. This technology ensures
the accuracy and transparency of offset claims, preventing any
manipulation or misrepresentation.
2. Pre and Post Project Verification: Our
approach includes thorough verification both before and after
projects are executed. This comprehensive assessment ensures
that the intended emissions reductions are achieved and
accurately reported.
3. Platform for Connectivity: We provide a
platform that facilitates connectivity between groups, agencies,
and prominent corporations seeking to offset their carbon
emissions. This connection empowers impactful collaboration,
enabling meaningful contributions towards environmental
preservation.
By combining advanced technology with stringent
verification practices, we aim to establish a trustworthy and
efficient ecosystem where genuine carbon offset efforts can
flourish.
